Yielding Elegance

Original oil painting by Western Canadian artist Alexandra Verboom Fritz featuring a collected bay horse that seems to be emerging from the dark into the light. The horse is the focus of the painting, as the rider cannot be seen besides his chaps, but the relationship between horse and rider is strongly at play as the mare yields to the rider’s cues in elegant collected strides. The mare’s eye is soft and trusting as she goes about her job in the branding trap. A strong side light glimmers off of the silver bit, rein chains, romals and breast collar revealing the craftsmanship of the western tack. The artist has captured this majestic moment in a limited colour pallet, in which burnt umber and various hues of sienna brown dominate the painting and touches of white and ultramarine blue capture the silver of the bit, rein chains and hardware on the tack.

“Yielding Elegance” is an original oil painting on 30 x 24 inch gallery wrapped 3/4 inch deep canvas and is the first of Verboom Fritz’s upcoming equine series in oil. This painting is looking for its forever home and can be yours for $1,440 CAD.
