Soft Eyes from Soft Hands

Original oil painting by Western Canadian artist Alexandra Verboom Fritz of a bay gelding horse against a dramatic dark backdrop. The bay’s eye is soft and trusting revealing the nature of the relationship between horse and rider. The unseen cowboy has molded the gelding into an honest and gentle partner in a way that can only be achieved by riding with consistently soft hands. Verboom Fritz has used a dramatically dark colour pallet strongly dominated by burnt umber with contrasting touches of white and ultramarine blue to capture the horse’s trickling blaze, the silver on the tack and the blue mecate.

“Soft Eyes from Soft Hands” is an original oil painting on 30 x 15 inch gallery wrapped 1.5 inch deep canvas and is the first of Verboom Fritz’s upcoming equine series in oil. This painting is looking for its forever home and can be yours for $900 CA
