Afternoon Glow

Original acrylic portrait of a bay horse on a 15.5 x 13 inch oval slice of walnut wood by Western Canadian artist Alexandra Verboom Fritz. The painting features the horse’s head and neck lit with a strong side light of the afternoon sun. The horse’s eye is soft and the gelding holds is head in a nice collected crest. The artist once again pays tribute to the craftmanship of western tack in the detailing of the carves leather breast collar and silver bit featured in the painting, a theme that is common in Verboom Fritz’s western collection.

The warm acrylic colours accentuate the natural wood grain of the walnut wood back ground and the dark live edge of the wood frames the piece nicely. The acrylic colours have been sealed with a layer of protectant gloss varnish. The walnut wood has been fitted with a hanging wire and is ready for immediate installation in its new home. The piece is the perfect addition for the collector who loves equine and western themed art with a unique rustic touch of the wood surface and can be yours for $140 CAD.

Alexandra Verboom Fritz is now offering commissioned paintings for clients who want to commemorate their favorite horse or livestock memories. To inquire about commissioning a custom painting similar to “Afternoon Glow” please email the artist Alexandra Verboom Fritz at averboompainting@gmail.com
